Quartermaster AI

Quartermaster AI builds a distributed maritime sensing network that converts civilian and commercial vessels into persistent ocean surveillance platforms. The system pairs onboard SmartMast™ sensors - each integrating HD video and geolocation hardware - with satellite backhaul and AI-driven analytics to produce a real-time, correlated picture of vessel activity across open water. Over 600 SmartMast units are currently deployed across fleets operating in more than 25 countries, collectively logging over 10 million nautical miles.

The core engineering challenge is fusing heterogeneous sensor feeds from a geographically dispersed, intermittently connected fleet into a coherent operational picture. SmartMast nodes handle local perception and compression; satellite links provide the intermittent uplink; and cloud-side AI models perform multi-sensor correlation, vessel identification, and anomaly detection. The network has identified more than 400,000 vessels that were not broadcasting AIS, demonstrating coverage in areas where cooperative tracking is absent.

Customers span coast guards, navies, commercial shipping operators, and marine insurers who use the verified intelligence layer for domain awareness, risk assessment, and compliance monitoring. Quartermaster AI is headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.
